The Living Area At Colligan Barn - Click to EnlargeOur self catering accommodation is located in the heart of West Waterford a short drive from the town of Dungarvan. Colligan Barn is the ideal base for anyone looking to explore all that County Waterford has to offer. The following attractions are all within an hours drive from our barn holiday home.

Waterford (45mins drive)
A major port, Waterford has been an important settlement from Viking times. To get an overview of the history of the city a visit to Waterford Treasures is highly recommended. There are also organized walking tours of the city (tel +353 (0)51 873711 to book). Today the city is thriving as a shopping centre and home to many students. Also worth visiting is the world famous Waterford Crystal Factory which is open all year round.

Mitchelstown Caves
Discovered in 1833, the Mitchelstown Caves are renowned for their spectacular features, and provide an interesting wet day activity. Open all year round but phone ahead to confirm this.

FOTA Wildlife Park
A wildlife park and great picnic area. FOTA Wildlife Park is not like an ordinary zoo. Wherever possible we have chosen animals that thrive in a free-range environment, which allows them to roam free, while mixed with other species and with us human visitors!

Cashel
Ancient seat of the kings of Munster, contains a round tower, the well preserved Chapel of King Cormac consecrated in 1134 and a cathedral with secret passages built around 1250. Cashel is also home to the Bru Boru cultural centre.

Cahir
Visit the castle and spot the cannon ball imbedded in the wall. Cahir possesses some of the most spectacular tourist attractions in the whole of Ireland. Cahir Castle is one of the best restored castles of its type throughout the country. Cahir also boasts the newly restored Swiss Cottage which is now known as the Jewel of the South.

Ireland's second city with lots of shopping and steeped in history. A detailed list of things to do can be found on the Cork City Tourism web site.

Cobh
One of the last place the Titanic stopped before her fateful journey. Cobh, The Queenstown Story is a great heritage centre and contains much information on emigration from Ireland in the aftermath of the Famine.

Dunbrody Famine Ship
Visit the famine ship at New Ross and get a feel for how it felt to cross the Atlantic at the time of the famine. The Dunbrody Famine Ship is a reconstruction of a three masted barque originally built at Quebec in 1845 for the Graves family of New Ross.

Blarney Castle
Why not kiss the Blarney stone, or simply enjoy a picnic in the extensive grounds, or shop for woolens and much more at the famous woolen mills.
